Treking

Hiking has always been something I have enjoyed.Hiking in the rain at Delaware water gap was the icing on the cake.I have made a check list of essential things that I would take on my next hike.
1.A bottle of water with some tang.
2.Lots of candy for energy.
3.A mini first aid kit.
4.A hat(protection from rain and the heat)
5.Finally my favorite snack or a sandwich to devour at the end of the hike.

Corprate America

"Employment at Will" is a Loaded line.
Any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all," and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work.

An Artist

This piece that I read somewhere summarizes a true artist.

"The often irreconcilable choices we make between doing what we love and what we are expected to do, what earns money and keeps the family in comfort. This is perhaps not really an issue for those whose talent burns bright, whose abilities illuminate clearly and unambiguously the road they should travel down. But for the rest of us, torn as we are between confronting the limitations of our not-quite-brilliant abilities, the expectations of our families, the brutal realities of the economics of living and the often soul-numbing dreariness of the alternatives, it is not so easy.

So it is all the more that I admire an artist, for each has chosen, or is thinking about choosing, a path which by no means has an assured pot of gold at the end, no steady, structured climb up a corporate ladder (which of course comes with its own pitfalls) or into an academic ivory tower. Yet, these are the people who bring beauty and color to our lives. May what artists bring to this world never be minimized or scorned. Admire and respect them, love them even, for they turn a world of black and white into brilliant technicolor."

What's in a name?

Ever had trouble remembering names?I have addressed people at work with random names 3 times this week.In my defense I got the first few syllables right at least once:P(Sheryl->Sharon,Matthew->Tim).Bha! it is embarrassing.

Two!

My nephew is notorious and drives me up the wall. After spending two days with him
I start wondering if raising kids is a big challenge.

A smile is all it takes to convince me to do anything he asks for.All said and done he is my biggest fan:).

unreserved

Traveling in an unreserved car in India was a true revelation of the state of our country.GDP is definitely not a true inductor of the real progress of a country.I was not prepared for what I saw.Indeed a memory that is going to be etched for a long time.

I ve got mail!

I read a letter that was written by my grandfather in 1988.
It is one of my priced possessions.I don't think emails can ever replace the
joy of reading a letter!
He refers to the kids in the family as tail-less monkeys ,I cant stop laughing.

live set

I would wonder why 6 out of 10 Bollywood movies use NYC as a back drop.Every morning when I walk to work I see people of all kinds dressed in clothes from the 60's to the trendiest.I see men with Macintoshs and pipes...women in fur boots and fur jackets.... boring black, yet prim and proper investment bankers......Hippies with funky outfits. You could pull off the craziest styles in the big apple. For a movie maker this is a live set.

In the name of love

Spaces that I love and cherish!

Cultural pluralism

Cultural pluralism is a term used when smaller groups within a larger society maintain their unique cultural identities, and their values and practices are accepted by the wider culture.
I think the synergy among diverse cultures has a powerful effect on the society. Each culture has something unique and valuable to offer.
I visited the Amish county this weekend. They believe that self-sufficiency and self-reliance is more important than convenience. They are a simple bunch of people who have managed to hold on to their culture ,unadulterated.I wonder if they are a curious bunch of people. Are the young adults ever tempted to cross over to the so called normal convenient lifestyle?

Lessons learned in ceramics class:
1.Patience pays off.
2.If the foundation is strong there is lesser scope for error.
3.When you are doing something you really like, you don't want the clock to tick.

Food

Food should be a religion.
Good food brings immense joy, its almost like there is a "happy button" that gets activated when I eat.

Food is our common ground, a universal experience. - - - James A. Beard
